Worms is a collaborative project between Riku Nakano and Juna Pfeifer. It’s aim is to explore different ways of “sensing” climate change through celebrating the quiet, crawling presence of our non-human neighbors: worms.
Through wearing the suits, performers are asked to engage with their bodies in an unfamiliar manner. The movement of limbs is restricted while senses felt through the exposed regions of the body are amplified, thereby changing the logics we rely on to produce knowledge about our environments.
Like worms who churn, burrow, and continuously alter the soil composition, the project aims to bring to eye level the matters that have been beneath us. This radical change of perspective and scale, represents the disturbance in social environments that may be essential to facing climate change.
